Cocina de la Barra is a community undertaking which links coastal dynamics of the sandbar connecting the sea and Laguna de Rocha to the group of artisanal fishermen and women living in the town Rincón de la Laguna. It aims to be an environment where fisherwomen claim and add value to local artisanal fishing by home cooking typical dishes with a strong imprinting on the taste of tradition and freshness.
Using the species harvested in the lagoon, such as shrimp, flounder, croaker, silverside, and blue crab, fisherwomen cook various recipes combining fishing tradition and artisanal gastronomy in a singular landscape in good company of the sea and the birds.
In this Protected Landscape of Laguna de Rocha, Cocina de la Barra is a landmark for a great amount of tourists visiting the area and searching for embracing it and its people, a call for awake senses and enjoy a unique experience.
