Barra de Chuy is the most oceanic seaside resort in Uruguay. The extension of its beaches is ideal for long walks, to look for clams in the sand, to go fishing through the bars of the bridge that unites Uruguay with Brazil or to go horseback riding. It is a safe place, of absolute tranquility and with a totally natural environment.
The accommodation options are diverse, houses and bungalow complexes predominate, and there is also an excellent camping offer.
It was born by the year 1914, with the installation of an intermediate English telegraph station that, by means of submarine cables, communicated the cities of Montevideo and Porto Alegre, but it only began to work as a seaside resort from the decade of 1930.
