Located at kilometer 280.500 of route 9, between Castillos and Punta del Diablo, La Esmeralda is an almost virgin resort, framed between forests and dunes. Its extensive and little crowded beaches, are the main attraction for those who choose to spend their holidays in this place that invites meditation and contemplation of nature.
Disseminated in its extensive forest of pines, acacias, and eucalyptus, there are approximately 200 houses, a complex of cabins, real estate, polyclinics and food businesses. Its streets have curious names, the main one that leads to the sea route is called Cruz del Sur (Southern Cross), others are La Buena Vida (The Good Life), La Maga (The Magician), La Siesta (The Nap) and Cuarenta Besos (Forty Kisses).
During high season there is a lifeguard service.
The history of La Esmeralda, began with the afforestation of its extensive dunes, back in 1950. Then, the owners of this enterprise visualized its tourist potential and summer houses.
